Dear Amy
I can’t believe that you are 10 months old today (yesterday, as mummy couldn’t post this in time because you decided to postponed your bedtime by 6 hours). Time is running so fast and you are learning so many new things every day. You have gotten more and more mobile this month. You have learned to crawl two months ago but you just couldn’t be bothered with it. Now you can crawl from one side of the room to the other and you do it at the speed of light – especially, if you have set eye on something that you are not allowed to have or Honey, who you absolutely adore. You have also been taking your first steps recently. Not many, just one or two at a time but you are getting so much more confident that I think that it won’t be long until you walk properly.
Your sleep is, ehm, not really as good as it used to be. Between 3 weeks and 5 months you were such a good sleeper. You slept through and woke up around 8 a.m. in the morning. I was so lucky. Then we went to stay with Oma and Opa in Germany and things changed. At the moment, I have to get up up-to ten times, if you are having a bad night and between two or three times, if you are sleeping well. I am really tired in the mornings but I think you are waking up that much because your little brain is working overtime. Everyone tells us that you are way too clever for your age and it’s true. You are really into everything. You soak up everything around you like a sponge. There’s nothing you don’t pick up on and you copy things after just a couple of minutes. You can clap, poke your tongue out and wave. Sometimes you do even put your finger up your nose – such a little lady!
At the start of our weaning journey, you quite enjoyed being spoon fed but the older you got the more independent you have become – I guess that’s how life goes. You now mainly feed yourself. This can be quite a mess sometimes but it is such fun to see how much you enjoy your food. We still haven’t found anything that you don’t like. You literally eat everything that we put in front of you, but you have two favourite meals: Balsamic-garlic encrusted pork fillet with new potatoes and green asparagus as well as roast dinner on a Sunday. You absolutely love vegetables, especially broccoli, asparagus and carrots, but you also have a sweet tooth like me. You aren’t too keen on toast for breakfast and don’t like porridge too much either, but you happily eat two pots of yoghurt every morning and munch on raisins to your heart’s content – sometimes you even share them with me.
You are such a joy to be around and the room lights up when you come in on your daddy’s arm. Your laughter is the funniest thing in the world. It doesn’t really sound like normal baby laughter, but more like the engine of a car that doesn’t start. It’s hilarious and makes me laugh so much as does your cheeky little grin, your fake cough and all the other things you do that bring so much joy to our lives. We can’t wait to see what you are up to next month.
Lots of love and kisses,
Mummy and daddy xxx
Ahh she is so cute and has grown so much since the last time I saw her! And so good that she eats vegetables, Iyla won't touch them! x
I know, she'll be one in two months. I can't actually believe how quick that's gone…
What a lovely post. to remember everything as she grows 🙂 x
Thank you. Hope she'll like reading about her antics 🙂 x
awwww Amy you are so cute and such a big girl now!! you are a bit naughty to get mummy up so much in the night though!!! come on, mummy needs her sleep! can't wait to see you soon x
But I like cuddling with mummy and I always go back to sleep really quickly, well most of the time. I just want to make sure mummy is still there 🙂 Say hello to Jenson from me x
She's so grown up! It's funny how they're all so different. I've stopped giving T toast because she likes it too much! I'm looking forward to seeing Amy crawling all about on Monday. Wishing you sleep tonight!
A couple of weeks back, she had a real thing for toast with soft cheese but recently she just forms little balls with it and shoots it through the kitchen. Highly amusing for her, less for mummy. Looking forward to seeing Talitha and you too and thanks for wishing me sleep. So far she hasn't stirred. Hope that's a good sign… x
This is such a sweet posy, and you made me smile when you said Amy’s brain works overtime! 🙂
