The Gallery: Peninsula Fischland-Darß-Zingst – At Peace

I don’t join the weekly Gallery Linky very regularly, but when I went through some of the old photos on my laptop and I saw this week’s theme – At Peace – I just thought that I have to share this photo with you:

This used to be my local beach when I lived back in Germany and it was one of my favourite places in the world. I loved just sitting there and listen to the waves crashing against the shore and the sea gulls squawking in the distance. The peninsula Fischland-Darß-Zingst is home to some of Germany’s most beautiful beaches and although it is getting more popular with tourists, you will still be able to find quite corners that you can enjoy on your own or with your family. I can’t wait to take Amy as this is where I spend every summer of my childhood and my teenage years.

  1. Wow – now I am amazed…I have never ever considered Germany to be a place for wonderful beaches and such blue blue sea…Just goes to show how you can visit somewhere and not really have  a clue where you are!

I always think of forests and thick snow in winter when I think of Germany

    • Oh don't get me wrong, there are lovely forests and there can be lots of snow but now that spring and summer are knocking at the door, I want to keep it sunny :) There are lovely beaches around the Baltic Sea, which is where I come from, and the best is there is no tide, so water and swimming 24/7 :)

  2. It looks warm, mediterranean almost.  I expected Germany to be cold – although on the one time I went we played beach volleyball in Berlin and it was very hot!
