A couple of weeks ago, the lovely people from Cusson Mum & Me got in touch and asked me, if I wanted to test some of their products. As my skin always gets a little dry in autumn and winter, I agreed and a couple of days later I received their “Bump Gift Pack”. Before you get too excited, I have to make one thing very clear: There is no bump, well no baby bump, and there won’t be one anytime soon.
So now that’s out of the way, I’ll tell you what I thought about the range that promises to nurture and nourish you through the ups and downs of every day, whilst helping to keep you feeling and looking great. The gift pack came in a handy washing bag, which I thought is perfect, if you enjoy weekends away or want to take the set into hospital for baby’s arrival. It’s made from a washable material, which is ideal for those little spills, and comes in a decent size that allows you add your tooth paste, tooth brush and some deodorant.
The “Bump” pack contains Smooth & Glow Pregnancy Shampoo, Soothe and Nourish Body Lotion, Relax and Unwind Bath Soak and Relax and Unwind Sleep Mist, all of which can also be bought separately in a bigger version. The bottles you receive in the gift pack are not your usual sample size. I’d put them somewhere between travel and standard size as they are big enough to last you for a good two or three weeks, the mist even longer.
The Smooth & Glow Pregnancy Shampoo contains almond oil and Pro-Vitamin B5, which helps to nourish and moisturise your hair throughout the nine most important months of your life. When I was pregnant with Amy, my hair got thicker than it already was pre-pregnancy, so I really had to use products that made it smooth and easier to manage. At times it was all over the place, so this would have definitely helped. Obviously, I have tested this product pre-baby, but I still found it had the effect that it promises on the pack: My hair felt healthy, soft and shiny. I can’t say that it was easier to manage, but that’s because my hair generally has a will of it’s own and is rather wavy/curly.
The Soothe and Nourish Body Lotion contains Allantoin that helps to relieve itchiness when your belly stretches and a blend of Avocado, Almond and Grapeseed oils to help hydrate and moisturise. I didn’t use it on my whole body, because I’m not a massive fan of body lotion in general, but this one did the job on my elbows really nicely. My elbows always get quite dry and rough in winter, so I have started covering them in Cusson’s body lotion every even before bed. The lotion soaked in really quickly and wasn’t overly scented. Other than other products I have used in the past, it didn’t leave a greasy film on my skin, which was great.
I love having a relaxing baby, especially now that I have a rather active toddler. They’ve become somewhat of a luxury in fact, so I was quite keen to try the Relax and Unwind Bath Soak. It smells of jasmine and camomile and is really moisturising, but unfortunately doesn’t produce as many bubbles as I’d hope for in a bath product. The bath soak has got a really creamy consistency though, which I found rather lovely.
My absolute favourite of all products was the Relax and Unwind Sleep Mist. It’s not that I have any problems falling asleep or sleeping through the night (it’s more the getting up for me), but I absolutely love body sprays and this one is no exception. Like all the other products in the Relax and Unwind range, the sleep mist smells of camomile, but instead of jasmine it contains lavender, which has a soothing and relaxing effect. It’s light, refreshing and just really, really nice to use after a hot bath or, if you are as addicted to body sprays as me, throughout the day.
All in all, Cusson’s Mum & Me “Bump Gift Pack”, is a beautiful product for all expectant mums and would make a great baby shower or “just because you’re pregnant” gift. It is widely available in all big supermarkets as well as Boots stores nationwide and is good value for money. It usually retails at £15.99, but you can currently pick it up in Boots for £10.99. Separate products are available for around £2.99.
Disclosure: I was provided with the gift pack free of charge for the purpose of this review.
