I was thinking hard about what to write about today for NaBloPoMo and I thought that I wanted it to be something that affects us all in one way or the other: our appearance. Now, I am not terribly happy in my body. I am overweight, I wear a size 22, if I am having a bad day even a size 24, and despite having left my teenage days far behind me, I regularly break out in spots, but do you know what? It’s time to accept that we aren’t perfect!
No matter who I ask, everyone I know will be able to name at least two or three things that they don’t like about their body, things that they would change, things that make them insecure, things that are too wobbly, too skinny, too bumpy, too lumpy. Do you have them? Yes? Well, now is the time to push the things you dislike aside and focus on the things that you do like about yourself. You don’t have anything you like about your body? Don’t be silly. Go, run in front of a mirror and have a really close look at yourself: See, I told you! It’s not that bad after all, is it? I have read about this little exercise in a magazine – I can’t remember which one it was as admittedly it was ages ago, but I think the exercise is an important one. It makes you feel a little better about yourself when you are having a bad day and it gives you something to work with, something that helps you underline your positive assets, something that can help you distract from the things that you aren’t that happy with.
I could write a long list about all the things that I don’t like about myself and believe me, it would be a long one, but this is not the point of this post, because this post is meant to be a positive one. So I am making a start and hope you leave me the five things you like most about your body in the comments below. My favourite assets are: my hair, my teeth, my eyes, my boobs (when they are in a good bra that keeps them where they belong) and my nose. I try and put the focus on these five aspects when I am getting dressed or put make-up on and knowing that I have highlighted the things I feel happy with gives me an overall better feeling and makes me feel much more confident within my body.
But now it’s your turn: What do you like best about your body? Leave me your Top5 below and continue your day with a smile on your face!
– Day 5 –
Great post I would say
Eyes, teeth, lips, cheek bones ( when smiling) and hum….struggling now my smile!! It's all my face isn't it not sure if that's good or bad!
It's hard choosing positive things because like you I could write a long lists of what I don't like xx
It's not easy, is it? I was struggling and really tried hard to find something that is not my face hence the boobs, haha 🙂
5 things I like best about myself? Gosh ….. here goes!
1. My legs (they are kind of okay)
2. My neck ( I am weird)
3. My nails (when they are painted)
4. My slightly crooked teeth (my Dad always told me that they made me unique)
5. The lines by my eyes (because it means I laugh alot!)
This is really difficult! Okay,
1 – I managed to get through two pregnancies with no stretchmarks
2 – My boobs are very small and therefore not saggy
3 – My nails
4 – My hair (when it has been cut which isn't often enough)
5 – My calves
I feel better for writing that out, thank you!
