A totally normal toddler breakfast? Not when my little whirlwind has a say. Amy likes to do things her way and by her way I mean different from the toddler-norm. Instead of going down the slide, she goes up. Instead of being a fussy eater, she eats whatever we put in front of her and instead of dressing in cute toddler outfits, she prefers the nudist approach. She did make an exception for her half-naked breakfast yesterday though.
It was too adorable. Amy loves pumpkin seed rolls with raspberry jam or soft cheese for breakfast and to make things a little easier and less messy for me, I cut them into bit size chunks for her. I remember my dad doing the same for my sister and I when we were little and we loved what in German we call “Reiter” for breakfast. I did the same yesterday morning, but yesterday’s breakfast went a little different from usual. We had a special guest!
Iggle Piggle from In The Night Garden came round and Amy showed off her perfect hosting skills. She got out all her toy cutlery, laid the table and even attempted to slice the bread roll with her little plastic knife before going on to plate up her own breakfast for him. It was so cute to watch. She’s such a loving little girl!
After serving Iggle Piggle’s breakfas, she also explained something rather secret to him, but unfortunately I have not the slightest clue what exactly that was. As her language is only just starting to develop properly, I couldn’t understand a word, but I loved seeing her enjoy the early stages of role play and I sincerely hope that there are many more of these breakfasts to come! Seeing her be that caring and generous just made me see yet again what a wonderful and special girl I have!
It's so lovely to see kids starting to roleplay the things they've seen us do but it often makes me laugh when they mimic things I didn't even realise I was doing. Thanks for linking up to our Parenting Pin-it Party.
