What was your worst baby gift?

I love this new advert from VISA as it perfectly shows you the shopping frenzy that the arrival of a new baby sends you in and I don’t only mean new parents. The entire family seems to go mental. Everyone rushes to the shopping centre as soon as they get THE text message and spend half a fortune on 10 million teddy bears and outfits that will be too small within a matter of weeks.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved all the new baby gifts we received when Amy was born and I appreciate all the thoughts that every single one of our friends and family have put into welcoming Amy, but boy did we get many stuffed animals. I have recently chatted with a friend and we thought that it would be great, if you could create an online-wishlist of all the things you need for your new baby or your wedding or whatever you celebrate in life and people can look at it and either buy smaller items for you or chip in with others to gift you a bigger-value item. It would definitely make shopping a little easier, don’t you think?

I always end up running up and down dozens of aisles thinking “Okay, they don’t need this. Everyone buys that before their baby is even born” or “No, they’ll have 25.000 romper suits already. Get something more creative”, but it is hard buying that perfect baby gift without buying something that the family don’t need, already have or absolutely despise.

So I might need your help on this one: What is your go to baby gift when friends or family have a new baby? Did people buy you something that you really didn’t need or find terribly ugly? I’d love to hear about your experience!

I tend to go for clothes in a 3-6 or 6-9 months size, so they are not flooded with tiny outfits. Mich x

Yes, that's what I've done in the past. Wish more people had done that with Amy. We have so many newborn and 0-3 months outfits that still have tags on and haven't been worn at all x

we were given a doll for Bernard – freaky looking thing that looked possessed! Simon's gran bought it for her and I had to keep it cos she kept asking about it – But I kept it in a box so i didn't have to look at it until she was there!

Haha, there are some really creepy dolls out there. Luckily Amy only has normal looking dolls, otherwise they'd share the same habitat as Bernard's doll 😉

I didn't get one of these (my friends have more sense than money) but I have seen hand knitted babygrows for 0-3month olds for £59!! A single babygrow that they'll be out of before you know it for nearly £60!!! Mental
