I don’t know about you, but when I stay in hotels I expect them to have the same amenities as my home. Okay, maybe no dishwasher and tumble dryer – I am on holiday or a quick stay after all, but I really appreciate a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom and most of all quick internet that doesn’t cost more than the entire trip.
I often like to catch up on emails or read blogs after a long day and sometimes, yes sometimes I even have to get some work done when we’re on a weekend break or holiday. Some hotels really don’t make it easy for their hotel guests though. On more than one occasion, I had the feeling that it would be easier to jump through three burning hoops than to log into a hotels WiFi, but luckily things are about to change – well, at least, if you are customers of the glh group or Thistle hotels as they are known around the UK.
The London-based global hotel subsidiary has teamed up with BT Wi-fi to launch its fast, free unlimited and one click to connect Wi-Fi service for all guests and visitors across glh. properties.
With the demand for Wi-Fi rising in their hotels (Thistle guests used over 1 billion minutes of Wi-Fi in 2013), the group are now BTs biggest user of free Wi-Fi, offering free fast and unlimited Wi-Fi in all bedrooms, lobby areas and meetings to any visitors to glh. hotels.
Ghl’s CEO, Mike DeNoma says: “No registrations, no limitations and no fine print, just fast, free unlimited BT Wi-fi. Investing in cutting edge BT technology to ensure that anyone visiting our hotels has access to free, fast, and one-click to connect Wi-Fi is a long-term investment in customer loyalty. It’s what keeps our customers connected.”
“BT was the ideal partner for glh. in this initiative. BT Wi-fi is the largest Wi-Fi network in the UK with a rich history of driving innovation in the world of technology. BT understands the intricate challenges of installing Wi-Fi in a heritage hotel building as opposed to a modern office building. Together with BT Wi-fi we have installed [2800] antennae across our hotel portfolio – a significant investment in providing a great service to all our customers”
So there you have it, if you want broadband like at home, ghl and their Thistle hotels might be just the right option for you – there are plenty of them all around the country too!
