Ever since spending a couple of days in Devon with my friend Andrea and our little girls, I dream of owning a holiday home there. It’s a beautiful area full of charm. You’re never far from the beach and I’ve got this vision of spending my holidays in a beautiful little cottage in the countryside overlooking the beach and being woken up by the shrieks of cheeky sea gulls in the morning.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a little obsessed with property programs and websites that allow you to take a look into other people’s houses. So when I had a quiet moment last night, I hit the internet and checked Strutt & Parker’s website for properties for sale in Devon. Oh my word, I need to start playing the lottery. There are so many beautiful homes available and there really is something for everyone: plots of land for those who want to build something really unique, old barns waiting for conversions and mansions estates that come with their own 18-hole golf course, a private beach and 21 residential properties. The last one might be a little excessive for you and me, but how amazing would it be to own an estate like that?
If you’re being serious about looking for a holiday home or even a family home in Devon through, estate agents can be a great help. They know the area like only locals do, they know if there are properties on the market that tick all the boxes on your wishlist and most importantly, they are the ones who deal with all the annoying paperwork and the communication between you and the seller.
How about you? Have you used an estate agent when finding your home or rental home and what I’m most interested in, where in the UK would you like to own a holiday home – Devon, Cornwall or maybe Yorkshire? Let me know in the comments below!
This is a promotional post, but if you want to gift me a holiday home in Devon, I’d be forever grateful!
