We’re are planning a picnic with friends on Monday. Everything’s good, we’re thinking of things and picnic food to take and then Amy comes along and tells me that the picnic cutlery is boring. I guess she’s right. Pre-schoolers love bright colours, glitter and everything that causes sensory overkill, so when I presented her with the disposable wooden cutlery that came with our picnic hamper, she could only react in one way: underwhelmed!
Luckily, I had just cleared out one of my kitchen drawers in the morning and found some washi tape in rainbow colours and there it was – my solution: the world’s easiest washi tape craft or Amy’s rainbow picnic cutlery.
All you need is washi tape in a selection of colours (I think I picked the rainbow colours up for ยฃ4 for a pack of 10 on Ebay or Amazon), wooden disposable cutlery and maybe a pair of scissors.
I then just wrapped different colours of washi tape around the cutlery and played around with different designs. Nothing special, nothing that asks for any craft skills and I really mean any – I bet even my cat could do this. Amy is over the moon with her new pretty cutlery and I enjoyed having a little play.
What’s your favourite washi tape craft? If you have blogged about any, leave me a link below and I’ll pop over and have a look!
I LOVE washi tape. You want to see how many rolls came home with me after our Japan trip last year! Great for brightening up everything (I once saw a bike covered in it!!)! Love the cutlery, I bet Amy loves it! ๐
Yep, I’d like to have a washi tape tour now ๐
i dont own any but now I am thinking I should! so many possibilities!!! great idea x
And it’s so cheap. Check out Ebay, there are hundreds of colours and designs x
Oh that’s interesting! I have some wash tape ๐
Off you go ๐ Can’t wait to see what you come up with x
Awww cute! I love wash tape.
Me too, so pretty to look at x
The tape is brilliant and I jazzed up the spica cast many a time with a few pieces of tape!
Aww that’s such a lovely idea x
Great idea! I use washi tape in crafts all the time, especialy if I want to make a quick card, or gift tag. I’ve found this one that I did many moons ago though on the blog : http://theanamumdiary.co.uk/2012/05/10/reusing-innocent-smoothie-magnets/ ๐
I’ve seen some cute *whispers* Christmas crafts with washi tape, so will definitely experiment a little more x
I wonder if anyone would actually notice if I did this to our wooden cutlery! I’m guessing not….
Worth a try ๐
LOVE this idea – so simple but cute. Definitely going to try this…
Make sure to share a pic on Instagram. Would love to see your designs x
I am totally going to do this for our camping cutlery – its so boring! Thanks for linking up to the parenting pin it party
