If you are following me on Instagram or Twitter, you might know that Amy and I have finally moved into our new home.Β We’ve moved into a flat that’s quite a bit smaller than our semi-detached back in the UK, but it’s big enough for the two of us and both Amy and I really like this place despite it needing a lot of work doing to it.
The previous tenants had left a brown kitchen wall with bright blue lizards on it and the hallway was covered in neon green footprint stencils while Amy’s bedroom had airplane paintings all over the walls, but when I first visited this flat, I saw it’s potential. It has wood flooring throughout, apart from the bathroom, has well-shaped rooms and is nice and bright. The only downside are the ugly storage heaters in every room, but I’m researching options to hide them while still letting them do their job. We basically had to paint every single room,Β sand and prep all the skirting boards and doors and give everything a deep clean before buying and building all the furniture – luckily, my parents were a huge help, otherwhise I’d probably be still standing in front of the paint charts in the DIY store trying to come up with a colour scheme that would work for us long-term.
Now that everything is ready though, I thought I’d do a little home tour to share our new home with you. First up, is our new living room, which I think has quite a timeless look. It’s mainly featuring the colours grey and white with some silver accents, but have a look for yourself. I hope you like it as much as we do:
I hope you like this little insight into our new home. It’s small, but we already feel at home here. When we sat on the sofa last night for a cuddle and a story, Amy looked at me with her big blue eyes and asked me “Will we stay here for a long time, mummy? I like it here” and I think we will, because I like it here too.
If you like this sort of post, please let me know in the comments below as I am happy to show you some more rooms of our flat, if you’re interested. I’m always terribly nosy and love home tours, but obviously, I don’t want to bore you, if this isn’t your thing. Take care and enjoy the sunshine!

Well you know i’m always up for some house porn!! Lol! I love the cleanness of the living room. The grey colour on the walls is fab and check you out with the design stripe!!! Come do my house please!!! xx
Thanks lovely, glad you like it. I’m obsessed with grey at the moment as it adds some colour but is still nice and clean x
Oh Carolin it’s beautiful!
I adore the color scheme and love all the little accent colors. You’ve done an excellent job and I might be a teeny tiny bit jealous π
Fab living room!
I thought you might like the colour scheme. Have you notice that it’s similar to my blog? π
This is a lovely room and I think the yellow accents really go well with the grey. I hope you’ll be very happy there x
Thank you so much, that’s really kind of you x
I love it. It looks very stylish but still cosy. Well done!
Thank you so much, that’s something that was really important to me. Style is all well and nice, but a home is for living and that means being comfortable and cosy and having a place to be able to relax in x
I would kill to have a house as clean and uncluttered as that. Ours is full of shoes and school bags everywhere i turn! Quite stunning. Popping by from Blow your own Blog Horn
Haha thanks Fiona, but let me reassure you, Amy will take good care of creating chaos. It won’t take her long x
It looks lovely! You’ve done a great job. Looking forward to seeing some more rooms. X
I’ll definitely share Amy’s bedroom soon as I really love how colourful and fun it is. She loved telling us exactly what she wanted and being involved in the whole process x
I love it Carolyn, you have a real eye for design. I’m useless, my house is always comfy but never particulalry stylish. Mich x
If you ask me, comfort is so much more important than style or at least equally important. Who wants a home they can’t relax in because they’re too scared of breaking something or making a mess? x
I absolutely love how you’ve done your flat – it looks amazing and is well worth the wait. Sophie and I are very excited about coming to visit sometime soon π
Go and book your flights then, woman π
Wow, that looks like a show home! It looks amazing, well done on making the transformation. It certainly is house porn π
Haha, wonder, if I’ll get any dodgy Google search results now, but glad to hear you like it. I’m really happy with it too x
It’s gorgeous, you should be proud of all the hard work you have put in to making it a home for you and Amy.
Thanks Sarah, I really am and what makes it even more special to me is that Amy feels really happy and at home here x
I love it! It looks so calm and relaxing! You really do have an eye for design! x
Thanks lovely. I had such fun shopping for furniture and choosing a wall colour. It was a great little project x
It looks amazing Carolin, you’ve done a great job – it could easily be in the pages of a magazine! well done.
Haha, yeah while Amy hasn’t trashed it π
What a beautiful home – you have a great eye for what looks good together!
Thanks Cass. It took a while putting everything together, but I’m really happy with it x
Oh my goodness that looks lovely and so relaxing! Really, really nice x with three dogs here, I aim for a clean and least chaotic as I can but seeing this I am falling short big style!
I hope you and Amy have many happy times here, I have a feeling you will xxx
wow Carolin it looks amazing – and tidy lol
it looks like a big room to be honest and i love the simplicity of it and your colour schemes.
so happy for you and Amy that you have your own place now xx
Thank you lovely. It’s not massive, but it fits everything we need. I would have preferred to not have the table against the wall, but it didn’t work out and I think this is a nice alternative x
