We’re at the hight of summer and what’s more fun to talk about than holidays or your holiday plans? Living right by the Baltic Sea is like being on one big holiday during summer months as we try to spend as much time as possible on the beach, but, of course, going abroad or booking a holiday that involves leaving your hometown is way more exciting than that.
My sister and I are currently planning a city break to Rome at the end of September and I can’t wait to enjoy la dolce vita and indulge in Italian food while soaking up the last rays of sunshine before autumn comes. I’ve been to Rome before, but as it’s almost 12 years ago, we decided that it was time to discover the Italian capital again. There’s so much I didn’t get to see when I went for my 18th birthday all those years ago and I can’t wait to explore everything in between Forum Romanum and St Peter’s. My sister is already planning every meticulous detail of our schedule and while I know I’ll probably need another break after our pasta-filled trip to Roma, the excitement of a child-free trip full of museums and culture thrills me already.
By the way, financial experts at SunLife have recently conducted a survey among Brits and asked them about their holiday habits. If you want to know who spends most on their annual getaway and how many holidays we need to feel truly happy, check out the infographic below:
Have you booked your annual holiday yet or have you already been? Let me know in the comments below! I’m always after some recommendations. After all, we now know that we should holiday more to raise our happiness levels and who am I to disagree with the experts!?

Usually stick to the UK, my kids are very young so i feel more comfortable holidaying here
I’m not sure how they calculated those figures, but it doesn’t look like they questioned any families taking a holiday in the school summer holidays, as they appear to be on the very low side! I would be really happy if I was jetting off twice a year & only spending £1473! 🙂
What is classed as a holiday, though? We went to Bognor Regis for the day a while ago and had lots of fun on the beach. Is that a ‘holiday’? If £1951 is the average then the UK is loaded!! Ha, ha.
we have just got back from Butlins, Skegness. it wasn’t really what I class as a holiday, was more like a break away and for the children. our main holiday will be at xmas/new year when we go to hurghada, for a month.
