It’s been a bit quiet over here on the blog for the past week or so and I could tell you that it’s because I’m terribly busy or covered in a pile of work, but that’s not entire true. It’s simply because we’re having way too much fun enjoying summer. We’ve been blessed with glorious sunshine and temperatures between 25 and 35 degrees, which meant that we spent a lot of our time outside.
There were beach days, trips to my grandparents and many afternoons spent in our or my parents’ garden. My Aunty and niece came to stay for a couple of days and in between paddling pool fun and snacking on sweet berries, we also went to an Open Air concert on our local beach as well as one of Germany’s biggest sailing events in the nearby city which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
Amy had an absolute blast going on all the rides, including a 125 foot high ferries wheel and bumper cars, which we spent a small fortune on as she kept wanting to go on them. She had so much fun that we ended up staying for the big fireworks display at 11PM and getting home by 12.30 AM.
Summer is all about enjoying yourself and spending time with family and friends for me, so I don’t really mind the odd late bedtime. Making memories, splashing in the cool waves of the Baltic Sea or covering your hands and face in candy floss bigger than your head will always beat sticking to your routine for me. Who remembers going to bed on time every single day of their childhood? I know I don’t, but I remember all the summer fun I’ve had with the people I love. I remember summer BBQs, days out, being in water until I looked like a prune and playing in my grandparents garden.
What are your happiest summer memories?
We used to have many holidays at Butlins when we were kids
