Interior design is such a great way to express yourself and completely change the feel and look of your home. When moving from Bristol to Germany, I wanted a new beginning – a clean cut and I wanted my home to reflect that. I wanted to leave the UK chapter behind me and make a fresh start, which for me meant, I wanted things to be different.
Back in the UK, I loved the colour scheme of my living room. We had a mulberry feature wall that I adored, a dark leather sofa that was super comfy and walnut coloured furniture that worked really well with everything else, but for some reason I never really liked spending time in the room. The layout was something that I never got used to and because there was so little daylight coming through the windows, it always felt really dark and claustrophobic.
When looking for a suitable apartment over here, I made sure that it was an open space without nooks and crannies that would stop the light flowing through the room and I think I’ve found the perfect home for us. You can check it out in our living room tour and come back for more features over the coming weeks, but overall, I’m just really happy with our space: it’s fresher, cleaner and more modern.
If you’re thinking of giving your home a revamp but are lacking inspiration, make sure to check out Pinterest or Homify. They are two amazingly creative platforms that allow you to browse thousands of interior design features, get inspired and save your favourite ideas, so you can easily refer to them at a later time, share them with your friends and recreate them in your own home.
I’m a massive fan of the Scandinavian minimalist style and little pops of colour to brighten up the room and adding a fun element to it, so you probably you won’t be surprised that these are some of my favourite ideas from Homify. Now who’s building me that extension so that I can start furnishing and decorating all over again?
Do you follow a certain design style in your home? What inspired you to furnish and decorate your home the way you did?
