I might not have blogged a whole lot in 2015, but I still got out my camera and phone to take plenty of pictures of our little adventures. There were holidays, day trips and lots of every day fun, but as always, my favourite motif was Amy. There are thousands of photos of her on my hard drive and ever since she was born, I’ve been taking the beginning of a new year as an opportunity to look back and compile a little collage of photos from every single month of the year. I could probably do a weekly collage, there are that many photos, but I’m not organised enough for that, so here we go – Amy in 2015.
2015 was an exciting year for Amy. She started kindergarten in March, had her first sleepover at my parents’ house and also stayed with my sister and her boyfriend in Hamburg while I went to London for a couple of days.
She got more confident with strangers and in group situations and even had a little solo singing “You are my sunshine” for Nanny and Grandad Day at kindergarten. Something I had considered impossible as she hates being the centre of attention, but as always Amy keeps surprising me. She just gets on with things and takes them in her stride.
Her German keeps getting better and better, but I don’t think she’ll ever get rid off her English accent. There are some sounds she can’t produce quite yet and it’s the cutest thing ever. Everyone just melts away when they hear her talk and I just love it when the English side in her comes out. For quite a while, she was a little embarrassed about speaking English, I guess it was because no one could understand her or they found it funny, but I signed her up for an English class in kindergarten and ever since then, she’s comfortable with the language again and I’m trying to expose her to it as much as I can, meaning that I speak to her in English when we’re on our own or that we watch movies in English instead of German.
All in all, it was a fab year for Amy. She’s found a real passion for Lego – disappearing in her bedroom for hours to come up with new constructions or crafting with washi tape, which she just as obsessed with as me. She loves music and singing and she’s developed her first crush on no one other than Harry Styles – guess she’ll have to fight off the competition, haha. She loves being by the seaside and swimming, but that doesn’t really come as a surprise as she’s into everything physical – running, jumping, climbing. You name it, Amy will most likely be over the moon to get involved. Over the next couple of weeks, we want to take her skiing, so I’ll report how that goes.
Until then, we’ll just keep making memories and I promise, I’ll try a bit harder to share them with you throughout the year. Have a good 2016 – may it be filled with love, laughter and good health!
