If there’s a new toy trend around, Amy will know about it. She’s obsessed with toy unboxing videos on YouTube and Amy from DCTC is her biggest hero, so when I was asked, if we would like to check out some series 2 Num Noms, I knew that Amy would be absolutely thrilled.
We were sent the 2 series 2 Num Noms mystery packs as well as a Freezie Pop play sets and Amy couldn’t wait to get her hands on them when she came home from kindergarten. If you’ve never heard of Num Noms, they are deliciously smelling, food related, sell out, collectable toys with brand new scents including savoury flavours such as Becca Bacon, Margo Rita and Hammy Burger.
To create a Num Nom, you simply stack a Num (hard toys such as motorised or special edition eraser, lip gloss or stamp) on top of a Nom, which is the scented squishy character, and it doesn’t end there: There are thousands of different flavour/scent combinations and kids can get really creative with their concoctions.
I expected Amy to get bored after a while, but she’s still playing with her Num Noms a couple of weeks later – either on their own or combining them with some of her other toys. They’ve made an appearance in her play kitchen and are a regular guest for her princess tea parties.
If you are worried about the scents being ridiculously disgusting or overpowering, don’t be. I know that I was a little sceptic when I read that there were scents such as ham or burger but all scents are really pleasant and surprisingly realistic. I have know idea how it all works, but kids go crazy for Num Noms, so why not try them out yourself? At around £5 for a Num Noms Mystery Pack and around £15 for bigger play sets such as the Num Noms Freezie Pops, they’re great pocket money toys – perfect for little collectors.
