As soon as you find out you’re pregnant, you involuntarily start to plan your children’s future. You wonder when it’s best to wean them, which playgroups to take them to and before you know it, they’re four and you wonder how to find the best school for your child.
Find the best school for your child
It’s an important decision for every single one of you as school will take over such a big part of all your lives and, of course, you want your children to be happy and strive. But how do you find the best school for your child and what should you take into consideration before making the decision?
School Reviewer is a website that helps you gather all the information about the schools you are interested in. On top of that, it also offers lots of extra features that will make school life that little bit easier for you and your family.
To find the best school for your child, simply type in your location or post code and you’ll be presented with a list of schools that you can then do your research on. You can also search for specific schools that you want to find out more about.
The website lists contact details for each school, a map that allows you to see, if you live in the catchment area as well as a download of the latest Ofsted report and information on academic results over the years. Other really useful features are a review section, a parents forum where parents can discuss issues and topics related to the school and a buy & sell section.
Here, parents can offer their children’s outgrown uniforms, books that are no longer needed or any other items that might be relevant.
School Reviewer – find the best school for your child and more
Do you have older kids and are worried about supporting them with their exams? Don’t fear, School Reviewer exclusively offers video and animation walkthroughs for Maths GCSE, SATs and soon to be launched 11+ papers. The best thing, this feature is offered by teachers who set the exams and mark them, so you will know exactly what to do to achieve that perfect 100% score.
If you feel that your child, no matter how old, needs some extra help to achieve their full potential, it might be a good idea to think about a tutor. Home tutoring is hugely popular throughout the UK with around 25% of students working with a private tutor.
Being aware of the demand for private tutors, School Reviewer is currently working on a free database for parents and tutors with the aim of making it the largest tutor database in the UK. Once live, parents will be able to look them up by local area, field of expertise and rate. If you’re on the hunt for a tutor, keep your eyes peeled.
What a fantastic tool. Never heard of anything like this before.
It really is and so so useful, especially if you’re a first-timer and really don’t know anything about the whole application process and what to look out for x
I love the idea of a one-stop-shop for all things school related. Great idea, and possibly a good way for parents to get to know one another if they can’t always do school drop off.
Definitely, with Amy’s kindergarten group it took us until she went a year up to start a What’s app group. Crazy, considering our kids spend every single day with each other x
As we STILL don’t know what we are doing and there is a good chance we will end up back in the UK at some point, this will come in very useful! Thank you! (:
Do you think this will be anytime soon or further down the line?
Interesting, off to check it all out!! 🙂
Such a great resource, no only for those moving to a new area but for starting school and moving up to high school
This is a great concept and so useful when you are thinking of moving. Finding the right school is nerve-shredding and anything that can help is welcome.
I was super lucky with choosing a secondary school for JJ, we have the best one in the county as our catchment school and it was where JJ wanted to go, so a no brainer thankfully. Mich x
I love the idea of this – I definitely didn’t want my two going to the school that we’re in the catchment area for so this would have come in really handy x
