2016 is well and truly over, so I’m taking some time to look back at my 2016 highlights before we’re kicking 2017 off with a bang. On a global scale, 2016 was a bit of a bummer. The war in Syria is still going on, hundreds of people became victims of terror and, of course, there were Brexit and the election of Donald Trump. On a personal scale, though, 2016 has been a good year for me
My 2016 highlights
On a global scale, 2016 was a bit of a bummer. The war in Syria is still going on, hundreds of people became victims of terror and, of course, there were Brexit and the election of Donald Trump. On a personal scale, though, 2016 has been a good year for me. So I thought I share 5 of my 2016 highlights with you:
Concerts and Shows
I love going to concerts or shows and 2016 was the year, that saw me enjoy some fantastic performances. Not only, did I see Elisabeth – The Musical in March, I saw Adele in May and visited the Night of the Proms in December. I was also able to enjoy some fantastic theatre shows with Amy and my mum as well as Amy’s kindergarten group.
We got a kitten
In June this year, we picked up our new kitten Harry. Amy was so overwhelmed, she actually sat in the car crying with happiness while we drove him home. They quickly became the very best of friends, although there is a bit of a power struggle going on between them at the moment.
Work has been great
I’ve been working on some great projects all year. I’ve supported the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock with their media and social media for the second year running and translated at the event. I’ve done copywriting and translation work for some global companies and I’ve found a new social media gig that I really enjoy. At the same time, I’ve continued to write articles for various media outlets and, of course, this blog. I love that it’s all a mix of very different projects. I’m faced with different challenges each day and it never gets boring.
Spending quality time with family and friends
One of my 2016 highlights is that I’ve managed to spend more quality time with friends and family. We’ve gone on so many days out (although I was really bad at sharing them here on the blog), met up with friends and enjoyed each others company. Some of my favourite days out were my birthday at Burg Schlitz and our trip to Gespensterwald Nienhagen. We also had two fantastic days out with my cousin and her little boy who I hadn’t seen in almost 6 years. It was the first time Amy and her little boy got together and they had so much fun together.
Seeing one of my best friends get married
In July, I made my way to Derby to see one of my best friends, Andrea and her then-boyfriend, Michael getting married in a beautiful venue in the Derbyshire countryside. It was a really intimate ceremony, which I was lucky enough to attend and a fantastic reception afterwards. There were lots of giggles, hilarious photo booth pictures and copious amounts of cider which might be to blame for said photos.
