No matter if you’re simply fancying a change, you’re looking to add value to your home, or you’ve recently bought a new home and you’re looking to spruce up your kitchen, this blog post is looking at 5 inexpensive ways to renovate your kitchen on a budget – because it doesn’t always have to be a complete tear out and start afresh job! Making small changes that don’t break the bank can be just as effective as a complete kitchen renovation, so read on if you’re in need of some budget-friendly kitchen ideas:
Replace your kitchen doors
If your kitchen fronts are looking a little tired and outdated, you don’t have to fork out thousands of pounds for a new kitchen. Simply refresh your kitchen design with some replacement kitchen doors. available at Kitchen Warehouse or local retailers near you. They can be made to fit and are a fab way to bring some new life into your kitchen. Plus, they don’t cost a fortune and are way less hassle (and mess!) than a complete kitchen renovation.
Give your kitchen a lick of paint
I’ve already written about it in this blog post on how to spruce up your home for less, but painting a room or just adding a feature wall can massively change a room’s overall feel. Be careful to choose the right kitchen colour, though, as depending on the size of your kitchen and the natural light coming in through windows, the room can appear bigger or smaller and even lighter or darker.
Add a new backsplash
Another way to get creative when renovating your kitchen is changing the look of your backsplash. Don’t worry, you don’t have to rip it out if you don’t want to. You could try giving it a lick of paint, use some glue-on mirrored tiles to create a more airy feel or go for a rustic look with beadboards or wood. The possibilities are endless, so before you reach for the chisel, why not consider one of these cost-effective ideas to spruce up your kitchen.
Light up
Whenever you tackle a home renovation, always put some thought into finding the perfect lighting for the room you’re giving a makeover. Have a look at the overall feel you want to create and choose a light fixture that complements the rest of your design, e.g. if you’re going for a minimal feel with your colour and furniture, choose a statement piece. If your design is bold and colourful, a more minimal light fixture might be a good addition to your newly refurbished kitchen. Depending on your preferences, also have a look at the different light temperatures. Experts recommend bright white or cool white bulbs with ca. 4100K for kitchens.
Add your personal touch
No matter if you spruce up your bathroom or you renovate your kitchen, no room is complete without your personal touch. Add some of your favourite family pics, scented candles or dish towels and soft furnishings that complement your overall style. You can get as creative as you like and really go to town when it comes to accessories for your kitchen as these inexpensive additions can be had at an absolute bargain price if you know where to look for them.
Are you planning to renovate your kitchen anytime soon or are you happy with what you’ve got?

We are just about to do a major renovation on our new kitchen in our new house when we move in. I have so many things to consider so this is really helpful, thank you. Now to decide on the lighting! 🙂 x
I like the idea of just changing the doors of the kitchen cupboards . It’s a great way to spruce up an old kitchen to give it a new look.
I need to give our kitchen a lick of paint – it is looking very tired
Great tips! I think fresh paint makes ALL the difference in the world to any room. It’s amazing how grubby it gets over the years!

I actually bought everything in my kitchen around my light fixture. I saw it, fell in love with it and bought it before I even had the kitchen 😀
