The other day, I was speaking to an old friend and we were discussing how our weekends have changed since become mums. A couple of years ago, I loved spending my Friday and Saturday nights going out with friends, dining in nice restaurants and sipping cocktails whilst catching up with each other’s week.
I was never one to dance in nightclubs every weekend. I went out for a dance occasionally, but I have always preferred going somewhere that offers you the opportunity to have a good old natter. I love talking about all the things that have happened during my week and I am equally interested in the ups and downs of my friends’ week. With a baby and life in a completely different country things have changed though. Now I spend my nights with Ben and do you know what? I love it! After a hectic week, running around after Amy and juggling work and household, I can’t think of anything better than sitting on the sofa, having a nice meal or a lazy pizza and enjoying some cheesy TV.
Add some profiteroles, a snuggly blanket and some great blogs and I am in Saturday Night Bliss. It’s so relaxing and I really feel like the stress of the gone week is falling off me when I am cuddling up on the sofa without having to leave the house or dress up for a date with friends. Do things get boring? Sometimes. I wouldn’t mind having a date night every couple of weeks so that Ben and I can enjoy some one on one time, but with my family in Germany it’s not really an option and so for now we try to make the best of the situation and relax at home.
How do you spend your Saturday nights? What makes them bliss for you or would you rather change things? Tell me about your perfect Saturday night, grab the button below and link up. I can’t wait to find out what you are all up to!
I have just spent that evening with you, X Factor, roast chicken and walnut pesto, and the laptop on my sofa. Would normally be wine too, but I have to get into a dress soon!
Yay, thanks for spending the evening with me 🙂 What did you have instead of the wine then? Was the walnut pesto frozen to make up for the lack of vino? 😉 x
Nope, home-made and even the kids liked it! Licorice tea, sadly. Nice, but doesn't pack a punch!
Oh I love licorice. Never tried it as a tea though, so that's one for my to-do list.
Ooo an ear on XFactor and my head in the laptop! Very boring – oh yes and I did eat a bowl of dry noodles (my fave!)
I'll step it up next week and join in too!
Those profiteroles look yum!
