Pregnancy hormones are a powerful thing. They can make your boobs grow, turn you into a weeping wreck from one minute to the other and make you crave the most ridiculous food combinations, but did you that pregnancy can also affect your eye sight? To be completely honest, I had absolutely no idea that pregnancy hormones were that strong, so I was really fascinated when I found out that around 1 in 4 pregnant women experienced a change in prescription and 1 in 5 suffered from dry eyes.
Now, I was lucky and pregnancy didn’t affect my sight at all ( it was the insomniac baby that made me see things that weren’t there – my bed for example), but vision changes during pregnancy can affect both your well-being and confidence, so it’s important to get them checked out – even, if it’s just to be on the safe side. Usually, you’ve got nothing to worry about things are back to normal as soon as you’ve given birth, but serious conditions such a pre-eclampsia or diabetes could be an underlying issue and your eyes might be able to help your doctors find them before they cause any issues for you and your unborn baby.
If you want to find out about common eye conditions in pregnancy, what their symptoms are and what could be causing them, check out the infographic below which was compiled by Vision Direct in cooperation with medical experts such as Brendan O’Brien.

Did you have problems with your vision throughout your pregnancy?
This is a promotional post.
I could see coloured zigzags a lot when I was pregnant, apparently its an ocular migraine
Over recent weeks I have noticed that my eyesight has felt different and was going to book and appointment at the opticians for an eye test – I’ll now hold off until after Piglet arrives to see how my eyes feel then
I had headaches and blurred vision at 39 weeks with my youngest.I was put on pre-eclampsia watch for a few days before she was born. She was born breech so maybe that may have been the reason?
I have not suffered with my eyes (apart from in Hayfever season about 6 weeks ago) but my weepy hormones have just been ridiculous. I am crying at EVERYTHING! 😀
I don’t remember getting any problems during my pregnancy.
