Amy is back at kindergarten this week, woohoo!
Don’t get me wrong I love having Amy home but working from home when your child is home all day is not a productive affair. I always try and make sure that I spend as much quality time with Amy as possible when she isn’t in kindergarten. However, that means that I have to work in the evening and that means late nights. Okay, late nights and bags under my eyes.
I never manage to go to bed before 1 AM, which made this morning especially painful for me. Amy was up bright and early, though. I think I was the same when I went back to school after holidays. She was just ridiculously excited about seeing her friends and finding out what everyone got for Christmas. In fact, she was close to packing an entire backpack full of toys. You know, because ‘Matilda wants to see all my pressies, mummy’.
Back at kindergarten
In the end, we compromised on a couple of Schleich animals that Amy got for Christmas. All her little friends are obsessed with them, so I’m happy for Amy to take them in. She stuffed them all in her backpack, wrapped up warm and we got out the door perfectly on time. Yay!
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
I shot this week’s photo because Amy was just so happy to see her friends again. She didn’t stop talking about them on her way to kindergarten and skipped and bounced up and down the entire way. I don’t know what it was about the moment that made me smile, but I wanted to capture it. Maybe for the grumpy teenage years to come. While I loved school and seeing my friends every day, I hated getting up early. I was and am still a complete night owl.
