Do you never quite know what to buy someone, even if you know them inside out? You aren’t alone and, in fact, there are many others that are in the same boat as you. In the year, there are many reasons why you might present someone for a gift, whether it is for a birthday, a special occasion or religious festival, so no wonder you might be fresh out of ideas.
To give you a helping hand, we have compiled our own little guide for a variety of different occasions, just in case you ever find yourself stumped for what to buy. We hope that you find it helpful.
Birthdays
We will start off with an easy one – birthdays. Everyone has them and some have had more than others (ahem). Depending on how close you are to someone dictates how much you should be willing to spend, the same as any present-give time.
Really, though, unless the person is an infant they aren’t going to expect a lot for their birthday. In adulthood, a birthday soon turns into just another day of the year, so a small little something will suffice. A gift voucher for their favourite shop or restaurant shows a level of thought, while still giving the flexibility to spend out on what they want. It’s a win-win situation.
Gift ideas for Weddings
Weddings are either difficult or simple to buy for, especially if the bride and groom have given a list of items they would like to help set them up for married life. However, If the couple has not made a list, then fear not because small keepsakes will mean the world to the bride and groom. Items such as personalised memorabilia such as Mr & Mrs cushions, photo albums and memory boxes inscribed with the date of the wedding all make for sweet gifts.
Religious Festivals
Buying gifts for religious festivals can be difficult, particularly if you are not completely familiar with the celebration. Religious festivals such as Eid are not too dissimilar from Christmas, especially when buying for children – that means toys, toys and toys!
For adults, small items that will hold sentimental value make for the ideal gifts. Jewellery, personalised items and home décor will always be well-received. Just in case you can’t find any suitable gifts for the person you are buying, never be afraid to ask what they would like!
Baby Shower gift ideas
What do you buy for a baby shower? For those with children, this is probably an easier one as they already know what is needed to welcome a small baby into the world. For those that haven’t as yet experienced motherhood, it would seem something of a minefield.
However, fear not because even if you are worried that someone else will buy the same as you, new parents can never have enough! That means go crazy with new clothing – it gives you an excuse to look through the little baby clothes in the shop! If you do want to be different and want to buy something more practical, mum and dad will be forever thankful for nappies galore.
Do you have go-to gift ideas for special occasions or to you decide based on the recipient?
