While it was once vegetarians that had the reputation of being difficult at dinner parties or notoriously hard to buy for, it is now vegans who have taken that role – at least that’s what people seem to think. But if you look into veganism a little closer, you’ll find out that it’s not that difficult to accommodate a vegan friend or family member and find a Christmas or birthday present they will enjoy.
In the UK alone, the number of vegans has doubled from 276,000 in 2016 to 600,000 in 2018 and according to The Vegan Society, companies across a variety of industries have clocked onto the new trend spreading like a wildfire.
The UK beauty industry alone has reported a sale increase of 38% in the 12-month period between February 2017 to end of January 2018 with vegan cosmetics launches having increased by 175% between July 2013 to June 2018.
Lime Crime is a beauty brand that has been conscious of creating vegan makeup for nearly a decade now and if you look at their website, you will quickly see that their brand is like no other and they even say it themselves: Our mission is to create products and experiences that transport you to a magical world where you can express yourself unapologetically, experiment with every colour of the rainbow and escape from looking like everyone else.
Vegan makeup gift ideas:
As they’re doing such a great job at combining vegan makeup and creativity, I thought I’d share some of my favourite pieces from their range with you. You might even take some inspiration for some last-minute Christmas presents from it. I know my nieces, who are absolute makeup addicts, would go crazy for their palettes because they allow you to get really creative and create some truly unique looks with them.
Eyes
I’ve already hinted that the Lime Crime palettes are absolutely amazing because they are so colourful but, of course, there are also some more subtle options for everyday looks, too. The Venus XS Palette, for instance, comes in three different tones with four neutral-coloured eyeshadows each whereas the 10th Birthday Palette is probably the gift of dreams for those who like it colourful and bold. If you’re after a cute little stocking stuffer, the Diamond Dew Glitter Liquid Eyeshadow would be a great gift for the makeup fan in your life. They even come in the perfect colours for the festive season.
Lips
In the past, I’ve never really been someone to wear lip products apart from my trusty old lip balm but over the past couple of months, I’ve really liked adding a touch of colour to my lips. If you do, too, or you have someone in your life that loves a bit of lippy, Lime Crime has you covered. They sell a gorgeous gift set called Spin the Dial which comes with three matte liquid lipsticks as well as three wet lip glosses or four smaller gift sets called The Best of Lips – one featuring the best nudes whereas the others are showcasing the best darks, reds and mauves. I love receiving sets like that and I think they’d make a great gift for any friend or family member.
Accessories
And what would a post on vegan makeup be without some great quality makeup brushes? Lime Crime has three fab sets that pretty much cover all the bases. There’s the Aquarium brush set that comes in a cool glittery design with seven essential brushes that are either a great starting point for anyone starting out with makeup or a fab addition to any makeup addict’s existing collection. We have the Hot Stuff brush set that combines three insanely soft face brushes that you can use for powder, contour, blush or whatever your heart desires. And last, but not least, there’s the 10th birthday brush set that has iridescent pink star sparkles dancing up and down the crystal-like handles. They’re not just super cute on your makeup table but also include five brushes that you can use for every single makeup look in the world.
I hope you found this post helpful and that finding a vegan makeup gift for your best friend or family member has become that little bit easier.
