Whenever I have a spare minute or two, I sit down and do something that drives Ben up the walls: I get comfy in my armchair and watch home improvement or property programmes. Homes under the Hammer, Escape to the Country, A Place in The Sun or A Place by The Sea - you name it, I’ve watched it and it doesn’t matter how often I have watched it either, I can’t miss them. Ben thinks the programmes always follow the same pattern: a rich couple wants to buy a house for £700,000+ and finds all of the viewed properties too small, too dated or generally not worthy of their attention.
Okay, a lot of the time this is be true, but I absolutely love accompanying picky and not so picky couples or families on their journey to their perfect home. I love seeing their old houses, I love hearing about how they imagine their new house to look like and most of all I love seeing how other people live. For some reason I love seeing how people decorate their houses, if they have a theme running through their entire home or I simply day-dream about how I’d decorate their place. With Homes under the hammer, I love comparing the before and after and I love hearing about what went wrong, if the owners were able to stick to their budget and of course, if they’ve made a profit.
For some reason, I have a real fascination for interior design and architecture. I really have no clue about it all and you might know that having seen my chaotic living room, but if I had never-ending funds, I would happily re-vamp the entire house from top to bottom and back up and down again and then move up and down Bristol - there are some nice houses, you must know. I checked them all out on Gumtree, Right Move & Co! Property OCD? Don’t be silly, I call it a slight thing for other people’s houses!
How about you: What TV programme is your guilty pleasure? Do you like peeking into other people’s houses or do home improvement and property programmes bore you as much as Ben?
- Day 4 -
although i dont watch them as much now, i do enjoy programmes like this. i think Grand Designs is my fav though due to the money some people have to spend on creating a dream house! well done on still blogging x
Thanks lovely, I love Grand Designs, but some of the ideas they come up with are a little too out there for me 🙂

Hi, I'll like to confess that I love a sneak peek of how people have decorated their homes and like the personal and unique touch that each home has. Looking at their home decorations you get an insight on their taste and personality, the idea of which really fascinates me.
I completely agree, it's a bit like looking straight into someone's head, isn't it? Show me your sofa and I tell you what type of person you are 🙂
I adore homes under the hammer. It was on during my 10am feed when my daughter was a baby and I got really into it. When I had my son I thought 'brilliant, I can watch it again' but then realised I had a toddler and was stuck with CBeebies. If I get a chance I will have a sneaky peak
I liked it before, but just like you I properly got into it when Amy was little. Not sure about a second baby now though. They don't let you watch your favourite programmes??? 😉
