When you’re about to turn 18, learning for your theory test and taking driving lessons is probably the most exciting thing ever. A car means ultimate independence and freedom after all. I however, relied on my personal taxi company (my parents) until I moved to the UK, used public transport and managed to get to the grand age of 30 before feeling the urge to actually get a driving license.
When we were still living in Bristol, I didn’t really need one because the bus stop was right in front of my front door. The traffic was horrendous anyway and Ben was happy to drive Amy and I wherever we needed to go. Now that I’m a single mum who lives in a suburb with shockingly bad transport links, things look a little different and I’m desperate to learn to drive. It will make things so much easier for us, plus it will give Amy and me the freedom to do whatever we want to do and be a little more spontaneous when planning days out.
Funnily, I’m not nervous about the theory test at all. It’s the driving that will be more of a challenge for me. My coordination skills are ehm capable of development and the thought of having a bumper car experience in real life makes me come out in cold sweats, but driving a car is like riding a bike, isn’t it?
Apparently it’s not as 2 out of 3 drivers would be unable to pass their driving test, if they were to take it again at this very moment. Would you pass?

Simple answer - no, I very much doubt I would! My instructor always told me he wasn’t teaching me to drive, he was teaching me to pass my test - after that I would learn to drive!
I got 80% and passed
I think the rules have changed so much but I reckon most people would pass their car driving test again with enough time, dedication, hard work and persistence.. My dad did it recently too!
