There are plenty of things to do with kids in London, but if you’ve been to the capital a couple of times and have done Sea Life, Madame Tussaud’s or Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, you will be thrilled to find out that there’s something new for you to explore with the kids - Kidzania.
What is Kidzania?
Kidzania is a 75,000sq.ft child-size city in Westfield London where kids can experience over 60 role play scenarios. Watch your kids challenge themselves as a police officer, fire fighter or bank clerk and allow them to gain life skills such as independence or team work while playing and getting creative in a surrounding especially developed for them.
What can you do at Kidzania?
Well, the question is what can’t you do? In a city with streets, shops, public transport and everything else you’d find in real life, there’s little that kids can’t explore at Kidzania. There is plenty of opportunity for play and learning and the fascinating thing is that all the children need to start their Kidzania adventure is their imagination.
With an entire city as a stimulus, role play, emulation as well as re-enactment and participation in activities and scenarios teach children about the world around them while giving your kids the chance to experiment in the settings they’re most interested in. They can anything they want to - a magician, a dental assistant or a forensic investigator.
Plan your visit to Kidzania
When planning your visit to Kidzania, there are a couple of things to remember. Your kids’ Kidzania experience will last four hours, so make sure to bring some time. If your child is between the age of 4-7, you will also be required to stay with them at all times. Older children can explore Kidzania on their own, with their parents leaving their contact details at check-in or enjoying a coffee in the parents lounge where computers and free WiFi are available.
Entry fees vary depending on age with children between 4-14 paying £28 for an online ticket and accompanying adults being charged £16.50 for the Kidzania experience. Reduced fees are available for younger children, groups and scouts.
How to get to Kidzania
Kidzania is easily accessible via all means of public transport, so no matter what part of the city you’re staying in, you won’t have to worry about driving. If you do prefer taking the car, rest assured that there will be plenty of parking available. Situated inside Westfield shopping centre, Kidzania benefits from the mall’s car parks. Make sure to sign up to Westfield Express Parking via the Westfield app to grab a discount on parking.
Where to stay when visiting Kidzania
There are thousands of hotels in London, but, believe me, they’re hit and miss and not always what they appear to be on the internet. One brand you can always trust is Holiday Inn who happen to have a hotel very close by. The Holiday Inn Kensington Forum is just around the corner and the perfect base for exploring the city. They also have a dedicated children’s programme, so are definitely welcoming to families with little ones.
So what are you waiting for? That’s all you need to know for a fab day at Kidzania!
