We’re big bookworms in this house. I go through two to three books each week and although Amy can’t read yet, we read together every single day - most days, it’s numerous times. I think instilling a love for books and reading into children from a very young age is one of the biggest gifts you can give to them.
Reading improves children’s vocabulary and language skills and helps them develop imagination, empathy and concentration, all skills they will benefit from in later life. Amy and I always have a little question and answer session at the end of every book or story we read and I think it really exercises her brain and encourages her to concentrate and put herself into the place of the story’s characters.
To give you some ideas on what to read with your little ones, I have grabbed a couple of our favourite kids’ books from Amy’s overspilling book shelf and filmed a little video to tell you all about them.

If you don’t fancy watching the entire video or you’d like to have all titles and authors in list form, check it out below. I will also add links to all titles. Links will be affiliate links to Amazon. This doesn’t change anything about the price you pay. It just means that Amazon pays me a small commission.
