A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from Petit Fernand asking if I wanted to review a personalised lunch box and water bottle for Amy. I had a look at their website and quickly decided that ‘No, this time, I’ll be the one who gets a shiny new lunch box.’
I’m going back to uni in October and as Amy is happy with her current lunch box and water bottle, I thought it would make sense to get them for myself.
Personalised lunch box by Petit Fernand
There are 30 regular designs to choose from (unicorn, football, princess, skate, street, mermaid…) as well as limited edition designs that change on a regular basis and you can customise them to your heart’s content. Choose your favourite colour, font and text of your choice to really create a bespoke piece of kit.
This month’s limited edition design is a beautiful and very on-trend jungle theme, which I’m sure will fly off the shelves, but as I grew up by the sea and I just love nautical colours, I went for the limited edition spring box that, unfortunately, isn’t available anymore.
Bento box lunch box for all the family
If you think you’re getting a plain old lunch box, you’re mistaken, though. Petit Fernand’s lunch boxes come in the popular and super handy bento style which means that you have three different compartments to work with - great, if you like a bit of variety and want to transport more than just one type of food.
With a capacity of 1000ml, it’s incredibly roomy and big enough for your kids’ or your daily lunch and snacks. What I really liked about Petit Fernand’s bento boxes and which is something that previous lunch boxes have been lacking are an integrated ice pack (previously placed in the freezer) which allows you to keep your food cool for hours and clasps which really secure the lid to the box. There are no leaks and spills and I love that I can carry my lunch box in the same backpack as my notebooks and laptop without having to worry about them getting ruined.
Petit Fernand’s lunch boxes are also microwave-safe once you’ve removed the ice pack, BPA-free and safe to put in the dishwasher. At £22, they’re also really reasonably priced. Sure, you can get supermarket lunch boxes that cost a lot less but so far I haven’t found any that convinced me as much as Petit Fernand’s bento boxes and they’re not as fun and customisable either.
Isothermal water bottles from Petit Fernand
We’re really trying to limit our use of plastic, so refillable water bottles are an absolute must in our household. Luckily, Petit Fernand have also sent us a customisable water bottle.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t match it to my lunch box as the limited edition designs are only available for the lunch boxes at the moment but maybe that’s something that will change in the future. The designs available are cute nonetheless and match with the lunch box designs from the regular range.
It has isothermal properties, which means that it keeps its contents hot for up to 12h and cold for up to 24h, is insensitive to liquid heat, so doesn’t scale your hands when you’re transporting hot drinks and comes with an anti-leak cap. Just like the lunch boxes, the stainless steel water bottle is free of BPA, phthalates and lead and doesn’t transfer any odours or taste.
The price of £22 for a 350ml water bottle is a little on the pricier side for what I think is a relatively small bottle. The quality, however, is worth every penny. It’s lightweight, doesn’t leak and if it came in 500ml or 750ml I would be even happier with it.
All in all, I’m really impressed with Petit Fernand’s range of products. They’re well-made, fun and a great addition to every school bag.
